The Legendary pop artist Andy Warhol, who died in 1987, is still a sought after name. Several of his belonging were sold at auction in New York for high dollars. The auction was held by Warhol’s nephews, who were given the gifts by their uncle when he passed and decided to let them go. Jeffery Walhol, one of the nephews, was quoted saying, “He was a generous man and always gave us little gifts. But they’ve been lying around in the attic ever since and we decided it was time to sell them.”.

Some of the items included; Andy’s trademark silver wig, Marilyn Monroe’s phone and address book, Clark Gable’s inscribed gold bracelet and Marlin Brando’s script for the God Father. Several rare books and manuscripts were on the list of sale too, including two extremely rare copies of Gone with the Wind. You can tell about Warhol’s flamboyant style with other articles sold such as multi-color shirts, cowboy hats and paint splattered shoes. A picture of Sir Mick Jagger, created by Warhol, attest to his artistic side.

Even though not everything sold, it was a big event. This just goes to show that even twenty years after death memories can still be important. Several lucky people now have their own memory of Andy Warhol to cherish.

Andy Warhol was a famous painter, filmmaker and print maker who created and a visual movement known as Pop Art. Though Warhol passed away in 1987, he still makes his mark on the world today, influence artists, photographers and filmmakers alike. Besides Warhol’s signature pop art designs, the wigs he wore on his head were also famous. Often platinum or silver these wigs combined with his very pale skin created quite a look for Warhol.

If you are looking for a wig similar to Andy Warhol’s, as a collector’s piece to remember the icon or for daily wear, there are plenty of places to look. Multiple online retailers such as eBay or Amazon sell wigs very and almost identical to Warhol’s. If you do not have internet access, head to your local wig store. These places often have a section dedicated to unusual hairstyles and colors. Another benefit of shopping at a wig store is seeing the wig in person. You will be able to try on, touch and feel the wig to see if it meets your standards. However, since wigs from the wig store are often higher quality, you may spend more money. If budget is an issue, Halloween stores also have bizarre and unique wigs available all year round. There are wigs specifically named the Warhol wig to help ease the search for consumers.

When you are buying pop art memoribilia, you have to consider a few things, when you are deciding on the piece to buy, and whether or not it is really worth the cost, and whether or not you will get the resale value you are trying to get, if you ever decide that you no longer want the piece, and want to try to sell it back. So, the first thing to consider is if the art is an original or a mass piece. If it is a a original, it will be worth more money. The next thing to consider is if the piece is a collector’s piece; if so, you will find the value is much higher, and it will be much harder to find.

You also want to consider the artist who the art is designed about. If the pop music star is an iconic star, the art will definately be worth more. The next consideration to make is the time period. Depending on when the art is from, and what decade the music is from, the art will be more valueable for older pieces. Lastly, you want to consider the whole value. Is the art really something which others would purchase, or is it important and unique to you? This will help you determine which pieces to buy.
